    Employee Conduct Outside the Workplace: What you can and cannot control - Presented by Debra Turner

    Debra Turner - A Staff Attorney with Employers Council, an employer association serving over 500 member companies in Utah, as well as thousands of employers throughout the western United States. Employers Council provides employment law, human resources, survey, and training services to its members. Debra possesses over 17 years’ experience in all areas of human resources and 12 years as an attorney, where she has focused practicing in employment, labor and immigration law. Prior to joining Employers Council in 2014, Debra practiced employment and labor law for nine years in Utah and Oregon with a small boutique law firm and served as an HR Manager and General Counsel in the technology industry for eight years. Her specialized areas include employment law, labor law, and immigration law compliance, management consultation, legal claim representation, workforce training, labor relations, and immigration services.

    Debra's presentation will focus on hot employment law topics. Employers often struggle with what to do when they learn an employee acts questionable outside the workplace, such as arrests, convictions, drug use, unprofessional behavior, bullying and political activity.
